Brevo (formerly Sendinblue): SPF, DKIM & DMARC Setup Guide
Brevo uses a code-based domain verification that covers both SPF and DKIM. Setting it up properly takes 10 minutes — here's the exact steps.
1SPF Record Setup
Recommended SPF record for Brevo:
v=spf1 include:spf.sendinblue.com ~allBrevo's SPF include is still spf.sendinblue.com despite the Brevo rebrand. This will work correctly for authentication. Brevo also supports DKIM via a TXT record published to a subdomain of your domain.
Step-by-step setup:
- 1In Brevo, go to Settings → Senders & IPs → Domains
- 2Add your domain and click Next
- 3Brevo shows a TXT record for domain verification — add it to your DNS
- 4Brevo also provides a DKIM TXT record and SPF include
- 5Add all records to your DNS provider
- 6Return to Brevo and click Verify domain
2DKIM Setup
Example DKIM record location:
mail._domainkey.yourdomain.comBrevo's DKIM uses the 'mail' selector. Add the TXT record exactly as provided in the Brevo dashboard. The public key is a long string — make sure it's added completely without truncation.
Step-by-step setup:
- 1In Brevo, go to Settings → Senders & IPs → Domains → your domain
- 2Find the DKIM record (TXT type at mail._domainkey.yourdomain.com)
- 3Add the full TXT value to your DNS
- 4Click Verify in Brevo after propagation
- 5Test with our DKIM checker
3DMARC Policy
Recommended DMARC record:
v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; rua=mailto:dmarc@yourdomain.com; pct=100Add as a TXT record at: _dmarc.yourdomain.com
With Brevo's DKIM configured, DMARC will pass via DKIM alignment. Publish your DMARC record at _dmarc.yourdomain.com pointing to your own reporting address.
Common Brevo Deliverability Issues
Brevo domain verification stuck or failing
Check that the TXT verification record is published correctly. DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours. Use our DNS Lookup tool to verify the record is publicly visible before clicking Verify.
Emails landing in spam despite Brevo's verified status
Brevo's 'verified' status only means authentication is set up — it doesn't guarantee inbox placement. Check if your domain is blacklisted with our tool, and review your list quality and engagement rates.
Free plan limitations causing delivery issues
Brevo's free plan limits to 300 emails/day and includes Brevo branding in footer. Upgrade to a paid plan for higher volumes, custom tracking domains, and dedicated IPs.
